Highlights
Chain store sales rose 0.6 percent in the Oct. 10 week for an in-trend year-on-year rate of plus 1.0 percent, according to ICSC-Goldman's weekly tally. Redbook's weekly tally will be posted later this morning at 8:55 a.m. ET. Tomorrow the Commerce Department will post monthly retail sales for September in a major report for the financial markets.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
