Highlights
Same-store sales slipped 0.1 percent for a second consecutive week, according to ICSC-Goldman's tally for the Nov. 14 week. The year-on-year rate, though down 4 tenths, remains solid at plus 2.4 percent. Chain stores in general have been reporting improving results evidenced by yesterday's 0.3 percent rise for the ex-auto ex-gas category of the Commerce Department's October retail sales report.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
