Highlights
Last minute shopping, intensified by the prior week's Northeast storm, pushed sales up 0.4 percent in the Dec. 26 week. ICSC-Goldman's same-store year-on-year rate recovered nearly 2 percentage points in the week to 2.3 percent, respectable but still near the low end of trend. Redbook's tally is up at 8:55 ET.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
