Highlights
Store sales softened in the October 2 week, according to ICSC-Goldman which blames the week's heavy weather for a 0.8 percent decline. The year-on-year rate of plus 2.4 percent is on the low side of trend, a trend that's been ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 percent. The report is lowering its full month forecast to this range, down from its prior forecast for 3.0 percent. Redbook, to be posted at 8:55 ET, will offer a month-to-month forecast.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
