Highlights
The FHFA home price index is beginning to inch forward, up 0.6 percent in October with the year-on-year rate improving more than 1 full percentage point to minus 1.9 percent. Price data in this morning's existing home sales report are also leveling, confirming that home prices are firming as sales firm.

Definition
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) House Price Index (HPI) covers single-family housing, using data provided by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The House Price Index is derived from transactions involving conforming conventional mortgages purchased or securitized by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.
