Highlights
A burst of sales following Hurricane Irene gave retailers a 1.3 percent lift in the September 10 week, according to ICSC-Goldman's same-store sales tally where the year-on-year rate rose six tenths to plus 3.3 percent. The report sees a solid close for the back-to-school season over the next few weeks though it's full-month target for September, at an ex-gas year-on-year plus 3.0 to 4.0 percent, is unchanged from August. Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
