In what the report says is evidence that the labor market is improving, Monster's measurement of online-recruiting volume jumped 12 points in April to 145. Gains are wide including strong acceleration in labor demand from the mining, retail and construction industries.

Definition
The Monster Employment Index is a comprehensive monthly analysis of U.S. online job demand. It is conducted by Monster Worldwide, Inc. and is based on a real-time review of a large, representative selection of career sites and job boards, including Monster," according to Monster Worldwide.
