Highlights
Colder weather drove sales for Fall merchandise and helped lift ICSC-Goldman's same-store sales index by 0.6 percent in the September 22 week. Though the year-on-year rate rose by eight tenths to 2.9 percent, the rate has been trending lower after hitting a peak of 3.7 percent in the September 1 week.

ICSC-Goldman notes that gasoline prices are, after nearly three months of uninterrupted gains, now moving lower which could help discretionary spending as the holiday season begins. At 8:55 a.m. ET later this morning, Econoday will post results from Redbook whose trend has been rising steadily off a deep low in late July.
