The Monster employment index fell three points in September to 153 to indicate a month-to-month slowing in online recruiting activity. Small monthly declines were posted by manufacturing, wholesale trade, educational services, and public administration. Small gains were posted by utilities, information, and retail trade.

Definition
The Monster Employment Index is a comprehensive monthly analysis of U.S. online job demand. It is conducted by Monster Worldwide, Inc. and is based on a real-time review of a large, representative selection of career sites and job boards, including Monster," according to Monster Worldwide.
