A rise in contract signings for existing homes is definitely good news but it couldn't give much of a lift to the Dow which ended fractionally lower at 12,981. Though the day's news is light, demand for the safety of Treasuries is higher with the 10-year yield down a sizable five basis points to 1.93 percent. Light crude is just below $108 with gold just below $1,770.
