Store Sales - Y/Y1.9 %2.6 %

Highlights
Chain-store sales picked up a little steam last week, according to ICSC-Goldman whose same-store sales index is up 0.4 percent. The year-on-year rate, at plus 2.6 percent, is up 7 tenths for the best rate since early February.

Yet the report notes that grocery sales slowed sharply last week and it warns that unseasonably cold weather continues to hold down demand for spring apparel. For the month of April as a whole, ICSC-Goldman sees release of some pent-up demand tied to weakness in March but also notes that this year's Easter shift into March will contain any April gain.
