Highlights
Sales, after surging during the July 4 holiday week, fell way back in the latest week for ICSC-Goldman's sample which reports a 1.1 percent week-to-week decline in the same-store sales for the July 13 week. The year-on-year rate of plus 1.7 percent is down more than 1 percentage point from the prior week for one of the lowest readings of the year.

The report cites the week's cooler weather as a negative, which held down demand for seasonal goods, and also high gasoline prices which cut into spending on other goods. For July as a whole, the report sees in trend growth, at a year-on-year plus 3 to 3.5 percent.
