Highlights
Retail spending was stronger this Veteran's Day holiday than last year, according to ICSC-Goldman whose same-store sales index came in at a year-on-year plus 2.8 percent, up 5 tenths from the prior week and up 9 tenths from the week before that. The report says sales were strong across retail segments and were very strong for department stores, discount stores, and apparel stores. Redbook will post its results later this morning at 8:55 a.m. ET.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
