Highlights
Same-store sales were up 0.9 percent year-on-year in the February 11 week, accelerating the stronger pace seen in the prior week when sales livened up to a 0.7 percent year-on-year growth rate after languishing close to zero for several weeks. Month-to-date same store sales were up 0.4 percent from the previous month, a 0.1 percentage point gain from the prior week, which had broken into positive territory after 4 weeks of readings below minus 3 percent. Year-on-year, monthly sales were up 0.8 percent, also a 0.1 percentage improvement on the prior week. After a disappointing start of the year, retailers in Redbook's sample are registering a comeback in sales over the last two week, suggesting greater strength in core retail sales results for February.
