Store Sales Y/Y change0.9 %1.1 %

Highlights
Same store sales were up 1.1 percent year-on-year in the February 18 week as the acceleration in sales seen in the Redbook sample in the prior two weeks took the gain to the best level of the year. Month-to-date same store sales also picked up the growth pace and were up 0.5 percent, in a continuation of the rebound from 4 weeks of sharply negative readings in January. Year-on-year, monthly sales were up 0.9 percent, a 0.1 percentage point improvement from the prior week and equal to the strongest pace of the year set in the first week of January. Given last week's surprisingly strong core retail sales report for January, the Redbook sample sales pickup in recent weeks suggests impressive strength in core retail sales for February.
