Same store sales growth accelerated sharply to a 4.3 percent year-on-year pace in the August 26 week, adding 1.1 percentage points after a 0.7 percentage point pickup in the prior week to post the strongest year-on-year growth since June 2015. August month-to-date sales were up 0.2 percent versus July, the first positive reading in this comparison in 8 weeks. Year-on-year, full month sales were up 3.2 percent, the strongest reading in over two years.
