The consumer comfort index is pressing to new post-election highs and new cycle highs, at 47.2 in the February 5 week vs 46.6 in the prior week. Today's result hints at a further gain for tomorrow's consumer sentiment report. Strength in consumer confidence readings generally reflects strength in the labor market.

Definition
The Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index is a weekly, random-sample survey tracking Americans' views on the condition of the U.S. economy, their personal finances and the buying climate. Details are available only to subscribers. In May 2014, the series range was changed to zero to 100 from minus 100 to plus 100.
