EIA Natural Gas Report
Released On 8/24/2017 10:30:00 AM For wk8/18, 2017
Weekly Change53 bcf43 bcf

Natural gas in storage rose 43 billion cubic feet in the August 18 week to 3,125 bcf. With electricity generation demand moderated by cooler temperatures in the North and East, the twenty-first consecutive weekly build since the traditional end of the heating season was in line with expectations but exceeded the 11 bcf increase in the comparable week last year. This put natural gas stocks 6.7 percent below their level last year at this time, when inventories were still bloated from earlier dampened consumption during the heating season. But in a longer term comparison, stocks were 1.5 percent higher than the 5-year average for this time of year and remain in the upper half of the historical range for the period.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides weekly information on natural gas stocks in underground storage for the U.S. and five regions of the country. The level of inventories helps determine prices for natural gas products.  Why Investors Care
