Stocks posted fractional losses in a session light on news. The Dow slipped 0.1 percent to 20,052. Selling in European bonds, tied to election jitters in France, raised demand for Treasuries where the 10-year yield fell 5 basis points to 1.42 percent. Oil slipped toward $53 while gold firmed to $1,235. The dollar was little changed.
