Market Reflections

June 1, 2017
Construction spending, though revised higher in March, fell very steeply in April in what is yet another step backward for second-quarter GDP. But the day's private reports are once again very solid with ISM manufacturing showing broad strength and ADP once again calling for an outsized increase in Friday's payrolls.

The Dow rose a sharp 0.7 percent to 21,144 ahead of the employment report while oil, despite another steep draw in weekly inventories, failed to move off of $48.
