Highlights
July 21, 2017
Stocks posted slight losses with the Dow ending the week with a 0.3 percent loss at 21,580. In a possible sign of risk aversion, demand for gold and long-term Treasuries was very strong with gold rising 2.7 percent on the week to $1,260 and the 10-year yield down 8 basis points to 2.24 percent. Strong demand for the euro made for a big 1.3 percent weekly loss for the dollar index which, in a boost to exporters, is down a very sizable 8.1 percent so far this year.
