Jobless claims continue to back down to pre-hurricane levels though Puerto Rico, where applicants apparently can't get to the unemployment offices to file, remains a major wildcard for pending reports. Producer price data were also released and, aside from hurricane pressures in energy, did show a welcome uplift for service prices.
Stocks moved slightly lower with the Dow down 0.1 percent to 22,841. Money moved into the bond market but only slightly with the 10-year Treasury yield down 3 basis points to 2.32 percent. The dollar index, at 93.10, firmed slightly while oil eased to $50.50.
