Market Reflections

March 2, 2018
The sell-off in stocks eased Friday though the Dow still edged 0.3 percent lower to 24,538, ending the week with a 3.0 percent decline and now showing a year-to-date dip of minus 0.7 percent.

News was quiet after yesterday's tariff announcement by President Trump with economic data led by another set of flat readings for consumer inflation expectations which remain stubbornly lifeless and are belying all the inflation concerns in the markets.

Oil had a bad week, down 3.3 percent and near $61.50, while Treasury yields, the dollar and even gold all were little changed despite the wild ride in the stock market.
