Highlights Confidence among institutional investors fell slightly in April to 97.0, down three tenths from a revised March reading and below 100 to indicate demand for safety. Levels are just below 100 in Asia and the US with Europe's sample, reflecting sovereign-debt issues, especially pessimistic at 73.2. The report notes that inflows into emerging markets are slowing and are no longer offsetting outflows from developed markets.

Definition
The State Street Investor Confidence Index measures confidence by looking at actual levels of risk in investment portfolios. This is not an attitude survey. The State Street Investor Confidence Index measures confidence directly by assessing the changes in investor holdings of equities.
