Confidence among institutional investors is holding steady, just on the defensive side at 99.3 vs November's revised 99.4. A reading under 100 indicates demand for safety. Regionally, investors in North America and Asia are leaning toward safety while those in Europe continue to lean slightly toward risk.

Definition
The State Street Investor Confidence Index measures confidence by looking at actual levels of risk in investment portfolios. This is not an attitude survey. The State Street Investor Confidence Index measures confidence directly by assessing the changes in investor holdings of equities.
