Quarterly Services Survey
Definition
The Census Bureau will focus this quarterly services survey on information and technology-related service industries. These were include information; professional, scientific and technical services; administrative & support services; and waste management and remediation services. These sectors correspond to three NAICS sectors (51, 54, and 56). The Quarterly Services Survey produces estimates of total operating revenue and the percentage of revenue by class of customer.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
Second-quarter revenue in information services rose 3.8 percent compared to the first quarter, led by gains among periodical publishers and cable broadcasters. Software publishers showed a decline. The year-on-year gain for information services was 6.2 percent. Internet revenue, a separate category, rose 3.0 percent in the quarter led by hosting for data processing. Year-on-year Internet revenue is not available.

Second-quarter employment services revenues, which offers a look at the temporary services market, rose a quarter-to-quarter 2.8 percent, well up from a 5.8 percent quarter-to-quarter decline in the first quarter. The year-on-year change for employment services is not available.
