Treasury International Capital
Definition
These Treasury data track the flows of financial instruments into and out of the United States. Instruments tracked include Treasury securities, agency securities, corporate bonds, and corporate equities. Why Investors Care

Highlights
Foreign demand for U.S. securities fell back in March, with net purchases at $69.8 billion vs. February's $90.5 billion and reflecting weakness in official purchases of Treasuries. Otherwise data showed strength, with private demand for all securities strong especially for U.S. corporate bonds and U.S. equities.

Country by country, demand fell back from leading buyer Japan while growth in Chinese holdings slowed. Holdings from U.K. and Caribbean accounts showed strength.

Though the headline total is a bit soft, the report shouldn't raise concerns over foreign demand for U.S. securities. Financial markets showed little reaction to the data though the dollar did edge lower.
